New Zealand offers many seasonal and temporary job opportunities. Every year the New Zealand fruit industry employs thousands of seasonal workers to assist with the harvesting and packing of fruit crops. Employment in the New Zealand fruit industry is available year round, however the peak requirements occur between December and May.

Harvest Regions: Northland – All Year Round, Auckland – Jan – May, Waikato – Jan – May, Bay Of Plenty – All Year Round, Gisborne – Nov – May, Hawke’s Bay – Nov – July, Nelson – Dec – May, Marlborough – Dec – May, Canterbury – Dec – May and Otago – Dec – May.

Work can be found in tourist areas in Hotels, Hostels, Campsites, Holiday Parks, Bars And Restaurants. During the winter season (June – October) a variety of job opportunities are available in ski resorts.

The two North Island resorts (Whakapapa and Turoa) are New Zealand’s largest ski areas, located in the center of the island on Mount Ruapehu. South Island Resorts are Cardrona, Coronet Peak, Craigieburn Valley, Mt. Dobson, Mt. Hutt , Mt. Lyford, Ohau, Porter Heights, Rainbow, The Remarkables, Treble Cone, Waiorau Nordic Ski Area.

Au Pairs usually need some childcare experience but won’t always need to be able to speak fluent English. Au pairs live with host families, looking after the children and perform basic domestic duties such as cleaning. Wages are often low but food and accommodation is usually included.
