Temporary And Seasonal Work In Switzerland

The national languages of Switzerland are German (North, Central and Eastern Switzerland), French (Western Switzerland), Italian (Southern Switzerland) and Romansh - a derive of Latin - (South-Eastern Switzerland). Almost everyone speaks some degree of French. English is not commonly spoken outside of the major tourist areas.

There are many tempoary jobs in the tourist industry for both summer and winter seasons (June - September and December - April) particularly for those that can speak French or German.

Resorts in Switzerland include Zermatt, Saas Fee, Château d'Oex, Les Diablerets, Leysin, Villars, Engelberg, Luzern, Verbier, Andermatt, Crans-Montana, Veysonnaz, Adelboden, Gstaad - Saanenland, Davos, St. Moritz, Grindelwald, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen Mürren, Wengen

Several British and European camping companies operate throughout Switzerland and jobs can be found in the summer working in campsites.

Jobs Teaching English are offered, particularly during the summer where there are many positions offered in Summer Camps teaching children.

Fruit Picking areas are the Upper Rhone Valley, Valais and Bern are places where pickers may be needed during harvest-time.

Au Pairs usually need some childcare experience but won't always need to be able to speak fluent French, Italian or German. Au pairs live with host families, looking after the children and perform basic domestic duties such as cleaning. Wages are often low but food and accommodation is usually included.
