Kingswood employs over 300 instructors a year and operates 10 centres, 3 of which are coastal locations. Instructors are provided with full board accommodation free of charge and a training salary throughout their first year. All first year Activity Instructors will be enrolled onto our Modern Apprenticeship training programme which will ensure that you are provided with all of the skills and background knowledge needed to become one of the best Instructors. And at the end of the year you are likely to have six to twelve industry recognised National Governing Body qualifications for free!

Field Studies Instructors are at the very heart of our Environmental programmes. In the last few years, this area of study has become increasingly popular with visiting schools and now there is year-round demand for these courses.

Bringing Learning to Life

At Kingswood we thrive on really bringing learning to life. All Kingswood Centres are located in rich environmental regions with areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty or Sites of Special Scientific Interest right on their doorsteps. The work is varied - you may be introducing a primary school class to the world of mini-beasts or coastal erosion, investigating settlement structure with a GCSE group or helping an 'A-level' student to complete an essential project in sand dune succession.

National Curriculum

Kingswood has always led the way in the development of its environmental courses from Key Stage 2 / Scottish P4-7 (Primary) right through to 'A-Level', Standards & Highers. Our courses dovetail with the National Curriculum and Scottish Curriculum, meeting the specific requirements of individual examining boards.

Career Progression

Many of our graduates go onto join our Centre Management Teams and then combine their specialist knowledge with a broader operational role. The opportunities for learning, career progression and having a great time are endless. Every year we identify a number of staff who are picked out for our fast-track scheme, for rapid advancement. In the past two years, two of our existing managers have been developed in this way.

Build Your Portfolio

Our Field Study Instructors get a real opportunity to expand their learning, build on their confidence and degree experience and put into practice their existing knowledge. All of our Environmental Instructors also learn how to deliver soft skills through our Adventure Activity programme. We’ll teach you not only to climb but also how to deliver sessions in areas such as Fencing, Archery, Teambuilding and loads more - skills you will learn that will last you a lifetime.

Part of Centre Life

Environmental Instructors work alongside our Activity Instructors and are an integral part of the team. During your time with us you will get actively involved in all areas of making it happen on a busy centre from serving children during mealtimes to getting the centre ready for arrivals.

Graduate Programme:

Kingswood is a rapidly growing organisation with 2 new Centres already opened during 2008 and substantial expansion programmes underway at most of our existing 10 Centres. The company ethos is to recruit from within, which is demonstrated by the fact that 3 of our current Centre Managers and 6 of our Assistant Centre Managers came through the ranks starting out as Activity or Environmental Instructors.

We are now investing heavily in a Graduate Programme in order to find the future Centre Managers and Directors of the organisation. We will be running an assessment centre in September to find three people who will be taken onto a 12 month programme to learn every aspect of the organisation and running of the business from an operational, strategic and delivery level, and gain a valuable insight into the educational adventure industry. You will spend time in each of our Centres nationwide, learning and gaining experience and qualifications in every area, from educational-based ICT and Environmental modules to Adventure Activities such as Climbing, Archery, Fencing and Zipwire. In addition, you will also spend time in our Head Office in Norwich working with the Sales, Marketing, Operations, HR and Finance departments.

Your salary will include full board and accommodation, and all travel expenses will be met throughout the 12 month programme. From there, we will be looking for you to join the department where you have shown most aptitude at a senior managerial level.
